Properties: The aqueous solution is a colorless and transparent fuming liquid. The relative density is about 1.32. The boiling point is 108.5°C. It has a pungent odor and is volatile. Soluble in water, with disinfecting properties. Fluorosilicic acid has no anhydrous product, the highest concentration is 60.92%, the composition is 13.3%, the most stable, and does not decompose during distillation. It can corrode glass, ceramics, lead and other metals, has strong corrosion to the skin, and is poisonous to human respiratory organs.
Uses: Mainly used in the manufacture of fluorosilicate, silicon tetrafluoride, also used in metal plating, wood anti-corrosion, beer disinfection, brewing industrial equipment (1-2% H2SiF6) disinfection, lead electrolysis, tap water additives. Also used as mordant and metal surface treatment agent.
